Hi, I couldn't really let the anniversary of the martyrdom pass without just getting on and giving a few of my thoughts in a bonus episode.

I don't have my trusty sidekick Richard here with me, so you'll have to just bear with just me and realize, oh man, I'm so glad Richard is there because it makes it so much better.

That's what I think about having Richard there, too.

It makes it better.

I was just recently in Carthage just not even a couple of weeks ago.

I've been there many times, and every time I go,

while I feel the spirit testified to me that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God,

I also feel a little bit of what John Taylor said he felt when Joseph was murdered, that there seemed to be a void

or a vacuum in human existence. I feel a little bit of dullness, and then I also feel, honestly, I feel a little mad of dullness and then I also feel honestly I feel a little mad and yeah I know

that's not what I'm supposed to feel I know I'm supposed to feel humbled and recommitted to doing

the work and and I certainly feel that to a degree but I'd be lying if I didn't say that when I walk out of Carthus jail,

I'm usually really angry.

I'm angry that lawless murderers

murder Joseph and Hiram in cold blood.

I'm angry that

whatever other truths that Joseph the prophet,

Joseph the seer might have revealed,

I don't get to find that out

because they decided they'd take law into their own hand.

I'm standing in that room when you're in the upper bedroom there of Carthage jail where the

murder took place, you feel that same sense of foreboding.

Just how trapped those men were.
