0:38.4	Hey, everyone. Today we're going to go a little deeper into Exodus 3, 13 through 15. So as we start,
0:45.5	Beth, could you share with us about the context of this passage and where it fits in the story of
0:50.0	scripture? Yeah, well, the story of Exodus is one of the most formative stories in the overarching
0:54.8	story of scripture. It begins with the people of Israel living in Egypt after they went there to
1:00.6	escape the famine that we read about last week. So we saw that Jacob took his entire family to
1:07.0	Egypt and they escaped the famine. And they ended up staying there. And they grew from about
1:13.6	70 people to become essentially an entire nation while they were living in Egypt. But the pharaoh,
1:20.6	there was a new pharaoh who came into power. And he actually was very threatened by the size and the growth of the people of Israel.
1:29.6	And so he actually enslaved them and oppressed them with hard labor.
1:34.6	He tried to prevent their population growth.
1:37.0	It was just a messy, messy story.
1:39.2	And Israel was in distress.
1:42.1	And they cried out to God to deliver them and saved them. And we read in Exodus
1:46.9	too that God heard their cries and that he was determined to deliver them. And so that's kind of
