| 0:00.0 | Welcome to a year in the Bible with Daily Grace. |
| 0:03.0 | This year, we want to spend a few minutes with you every day walking through our study Christ and all of Scripture. |
| 0:09.0 | Each week we will dive deeply into two passages of Scripture, one from the Old Testament and one from the New, |
| 0:15.0 | seeing how they connect and point to Jesus. |
| 0:17.0 | Whether you are doing the study yourself or just following along with us here, we are hopeful that through studying these passages each week, you will see how Christ is not only present throughout the entire biblical story, but the center of it. Hey friends, welcome back to the year in the Bible. I'm Alexa and I'm here of my co-host, Beth. Hi, everyone. This week, we have looked at Amos 9, 11, through 12, so far. |
| 0:41.2 | And now we want to turn to the New Testament and study Acts 15, 15 through 19. We're going to start by discussing |
| 0:47.2 | our annotations from this passage. So let me go ahead and read that passage for us as we begin. |
| 0:52.5 | And the words of the prophets agree with this, as it is |
| 0:54.9 | written, after these things I will return and rebuild David's fallen tent. I will rebuild its |
| 1:00.3 | ruins and set it up again so that the rest of humanity may seek the Lord, even all the Gentiles |
| 1:06.3 | who are called by my name, declares the Lord, who makes these things known from long ago. |
| 1:11.7 | Therefore, in my judgment, we should not cause difficulties for those among the Gentiles who |
| 1:16.5 | turn to God. |
| 1:17.8 | So, Alexa, tell us about your annotations. |
| 1:20.8 | This passage is interesting because it's essentially the words of Amos 9 through 12. |
| 1:25.0 | So there isn't a lot to take notice of when it comes to the reference to Amos that's different from what we already talked about. We do see that the language is a little different though, even though the message is still the same. God promises two things in verse 16 that he is going to return and rebuild David's fallen tent, and that he will also rebuild his ruins |
| 1:45.4 | and set it up again. That is pretty similar to Amos 9-11. What we read, though, in verse 17, |
| 1:52.1 | gives us a little bit of a clearer picture of what God promised in Amos 9-12. The so-that that we |
| 1:58.0 | take notice of in verse 17 is, so that the rest of humanity may seek the Lord, |
| 2:03.1 | even all the Gentiles who are called by my name. |
| 2:06.0 | That gives us just further insight into God's care for the nations. |
| 2:09.4 | God calls not just Israel, but the Gentiles to seek him. |
