Welcome to a year in the Bible with Daily Grace.

0:03.0

This year, we want to spend a few minutes with you every day walking through our study Christ and all of Scripture.

0:09.0

Each week we will dive deeply into two passages of Scripture, one from the Old Testament and one from the New,

0:15.0

seeing how they connect and point to Jesus.

0:17.0

Whether you are doing the study yourself or just following along with us here, we are hopeful

0:22.0

that through studying these passages each week, you will see how Christ is not only present

0:26.6

throughout the entire biblical story, but the center of it. Hey, everyone, welcome to another episode

0:33.4

of a year in the Bible. My name is Alexa, and I'm joined this week by my friend and co-worker Katie.

0:38.4

Hi, Katie. Hey, friends. In the last episode, we discussed the annotation day on Psalm 22, 1 through 2,

0:44.9

and now we want to dive deeper into this passage and learn more about it. Yes. So to start us off,

0:50.8

Alexa, can you share with us where this passage falls in the biblical story?

0:55.6

1:06.3

course of Israel's history, and they were essentially the Israelites songbook. The Psalms had different authors,

1:12.9

but many of them were written by King David. And David went through a lot of hardships

1:18.6

before and during his time as king, but David just regularly looked to God in his hard times.

1:25.3

And while we do know of some Psalms that were written during specific

1:29.9

times in David's life, Psalm 22 doesn't have a specific event linked to it. But we do know from other

1:36.6

Psalms and from First and Second Samuel that David often had people against him, King Saul, for example.

1:43.3

So it's not out of the realm of possibility

1:46.1

that David wrote Psalm 22 when he was running from Saul. But even though we don't know that for

1:51.1

sure, what we do know is that David was experiencing some kind of oppression from an enemy.
