So excited to be back with you guys today. Today we're going to go a little deeper into the passage

we read annotated yesterday, Psalm 8-1 through 9. So Katie, to start us off, can you tell us where

Psalm 8 falls in the biblical story? Yes, so it loves you. So Psalm 8 is a Psalm of David, perhaps Israel's most

famous king. We are quite familiar with David through our studies in the past few weeks,

but 1 Samuel 1314 describes David as a man after God's own heart. And in this Psalm, we can see why.

David rightly worships God as king of creation. And though David is a king of

Israel himself, he gives God the glory. We are not sure exactly when in David's life that he penned this

psalm, but we do know that kings and leadership in this time period were a very important topic of

conversation in Israel.

In today's study day, we saw that Israel had rejected God as their king and instead wanted

an earthly king like their neighboring nations. God relented, providing a king whose purpose was to

lead the people in worship of the true king, God. Saul was Israel's first king who failed.

And even though David was a great king, he too fell short in one way or another. So Psalm 8
