0:31.0	Hey, friends, welcome back to a year in the Bible. My name is Alexa, and I'm joined by my co-host
0:35.2	for the week, Emma. Hi, everyone. Today, we're going to be going deeper into the passage we annotated yesterday, Ezra 3, 10, through 11.
0:42.7	So to start us off, Emma, can you tell us where this passage fits in the biblical story?
0:47.3	For sure.
0:48.6	So we are talking all about the temple today.
0:52.8	As a reminder, basically from where we were last week, because the two
0:56.1	connect, last week we talked a little bit about how God desired a temple for his presence to
1:01.7	dwell in and the benefit that that would be. And God promised David that a temple would be built
1:08.5	through his lineage, but it would not be built by him.
1:11.9	It would be built by Solomon. And in 1st Kings 9, 6 through 9, God gives Solomon a warning when
1:19.3	they're talking about the temple. And basically, God says that if the people of Israel
1:23.6	disobeyed the Lord's commands, the temple would be destroyed. The big bummer is that warning
1:29.4	actually comes to pass and the Israelites turn away from God's commands and the temple is destroyed
1:35.9	during an event called the Babylonian Seat, which occurs in 2nd Kings 25, 8 through 15. This is a
1:41.6	devastating event that also leads to the beginning of the Israeli exile.
