0:32.2	Hi everyone. Welcome back to Year in the Bible. My name is Alexa and I'm joined with my co-host, Beth.
0:38.0	Hi, friends. Today we are going deeper into the passage that we talked about yesterday,
0:42.3	which is Exodus 17, 1 through 7. So we're going to start by talking about where this passage falls in the biblical story.
0:49.1	So, Alexa, can you share that with us? Yes. At this point in the story of scripture,
0:54.1	the Israelites have been delivered from
0:55.9	slavery and are currently being led by God through the wilderness to the promised land, which is the
1:00.9	land that God promised specifically to the Israelites to inhabit. Even though the Israelites experienced
1:07.2	this amazing deliverance from God, they go from praising him to complaining him.
1:13.7	The study notes this, but in the chapters before, we see the Israelites doing something we see
1:18.6	present in Exodus 17, which is grumbling. They consider the fact that they are in a place with
1:24.3	limited resources and accuse God of basically leading them into the
1:27.9	wilderness to die. And this shows their mistrust in God and their lack of faith that God was
1:32.2	going to keep taking care of them, even if resources seemed slim. Yeah. Anytime I'm reminded
1:37.4	of this story, I always initially think very judgmentally towards the Israelites. I have to remind
1:43.3	myself how often I do the same
