Welcome to a year in the Bible with Daily Grace.

0:03.0

This year, we want to spend a few minutes with you every day walking through our study, Christ and all of Scripture.

0:09.0

Each week we will dive deeply into two passages of Scripture, one from the Old Testament and one from the New,

0:15.0

seeing how they connect and point to Jesus.

0:17.0

Whether you are doing the study yourself or just following along with us here, we are hopeful

0:22.0

that through studying these passages each week, you will see how Christ is not only present

0:26.6

throughout the entire biblical story, but the center of it. Hi everyone, welcome back to a year in

0:34.1

the Bible. I am Alexa and I'm here with my co-host, Beth. Hello everyone. We're

0:38.1

glad to be back for another Thursday. Today we are going to dive into the Christ connection between

0:42.5

Exodus 12, 1 through 13 and John 1 29 through 34. Yes, I am really looking forward to this conversation.

0:51.3

1:00.8

about how it helps us see the Christ's connection from this week's passage? Yeah, I think that's a

1:05.7

great place to start. Isaiah 53 7 through 10 says, he was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth.

1:13.4

Like a lamb led to the slaughter, and like a sheep silent before her shears, he did not open his

1:18.5

mouth. He was taken away because of oppression and judgment, and who considered his fate?

1:23.6

For he was cut off from the land of the living. He was struck because of my people's rebellion. He was

1:28.6

assigned a grave with the wicked, but he was with a rich man at his death because he had done no

1:33.1

violence and had not spoken deceitfully. Yet the Lord was pleased to crush him severely. When you make

1:39.1

him a guilt offering, he will see his seed, he will prolong his days, And by his hand, the Lord's pleasure will be accomplished.

1:46.9

So yeah, this passage really helps us see the substitutionary nature of Jesus' death. In other words, how he died in our place.

1:53.8

So the Passover lamb from Exodus shed its blood so that the firstborns of Israel could be saved.
