I'm a hopeless romantic when it comes to long distance travel. offer me a cross-country train ticket or a boarding pass on a trans-Atlantic

cruise and I'll be packing my steamer trunk and daydreaming of finally writing that novel as the country goes whizzing by out the window or the

dolphin swim playfully in the wake of the ship.

But Lord knows by day three of that trip I'll be longing for solid ground and rueing

the day I ever thought it would be fun to be trapped

on a speeding vessel with a bunch of strangers and screaming children, no doubt.

Maybe then I'd finally understand why there are so many stories of haunted ships forever floating on the sea and

the veil between our world and the great unknown.

Ghost vessels that once held a group of souls who thought rooming together for an extended period of time with no escape

was a good idea.
