It's 8.23 a.m. the morning of the final major and I'm outside. I'm happy to report that

the wind is down. The sun is shining. Where is Eli? I don't know. Text him three times.

I haven't heard back. Is this some sort of forfeit? I'm not sure. Is he curled up in the corner,

terrified of playing in front of a gallery? I'm not sure. I can't answer all these things.

All I can say is, I'm out here. I'm ready. Let's go, let's go.

We are two guys in our early 40s and this is the season 4 finale of Chasing Scratch.

I mean, everybody, all the sweater song and saying or you just hated it without hearing it.

It was the day before the final major and we were in Shelby, North Carolina and we were on our way to

breakfast. We were all piled in Eli's car with our wives, our friend Wiggins and our friend

Charlie who surprised us by making the trip for the weekend and we were just about to pass by Riverbitt.

We drop our room real quick. We're just, let me just, let me see at the 10th.

Moment of silence. Look at him. Rolling it. Oh, they're getting rolled back. Come on.

You can hear there how just the glimpse of the 10th green that you can see from the main road

brings back all the feels. It brings back the college memories of skipping afternoon classes to

come walk nine where the short game competitions we'd have on the putting green. I remember going

there by myself to practice flop shots for hours with my dad's old Hague Ultra Sandwich being the

only one out there trying to see how high I could hit it and have it land soft. But if I'm honest

when I see the course it's not just those memories. The more recent memories come back to

losing a four-up lead in season one and getting trounce ten and nine the last two seasons.

And as I look at the maintenance crew rolling the 10th green I think to last year specifically

when my putting left me in a way it never has. And if I'm honest part of me wonders if

...
