Hey there friend, so this is a extra special bonus episode of old fashioned on purpose and I don't really know bonus episodes or a thing, but they are now.

So basically what happened or what is happening is I have this idea.

It's a timely topic that I didn't want to delay bringing to you, but it didn't really fit into my theme of last season, which was gardening.

I mean, it kind of does, I guess, I don't know and it doesn't necessarily fit into the theme of the upcoming season, which happens to start this week and I'll tell you what that theme is at the end of this episode.

But I still wanted to make sure that I brought it to you sooner versus later.

So we're calling it a bonus and we're smushing it in between seasons, but here's why I thought this was so important.

It is spring or at least it's dang close to spring. Now as I record this, we are under a very heavy blanket of wet snow and we are supposed to be getting a monster storm this weekend.

I don't know if that actually will come to fruition, but that's what the weathermen are saying right now.

Anyway, that's actually a hallmark of spring for us in Wyoming. We get some of our biggest, wettest snowstorms this time of year.

But even though there's snow on the ground and my kids were literally building snowmen this morning.

I have seeds sprouting in the basement. I have eggs incubating on my desk.

We have calves being born literally as we speak, Christian was out all morning dealing with calving.

So spring is here, snow and all.

And something happens to us homestead folk when spring hits.

We start getting a little crazy in a good way because we've been reading books all winter.

We've been watching YouTube videos all winter and reading blogs. We have all these ideas.

We have our big list of projects probably in your old fashioned on purpose planner that I know many of you have.

And you're ready to get after it like it's go time.

Maybe like we got to get this started and we start making lists and we start getting the husband or the wife on board.

And we get kind of rapidly excited because we can smell the green grass and the days are getting longer.

And there's just that feel of possibility in the air.

Now sometimes that's a little overwhelming. Sometimes that's a little bit disconcerting trying to figure out how to fit everything into the calendar.
