0:17.6	And I am subbing in today for Emma and we're going to be looking at the book of First Timothy. And I am really honored to be in the studio with my friend and my elder, one of the Watermark elders here, Todd Anders.
0:30.5	Hey, Wes. How's it going this morning? Great, brother. I love being here with you. And I love that we get to cover this particular book, just a small little book right there that Paul wrote to his friend Timothy.
0:41.5	And specifically, we wanted to have one of our elders in for this episode because there's so much talk here as Paul is trying to help Timothy know what it looks like to lead his congregation, to lead his church.
0:52.7	And so I'm excited for us just to dive in and talk about
0:55.6	First Timothy together. And I know we gave you some specific prompts. So we're just going to kind
0:59.9	of launch into those. Great. And love to hear what the Lord has laid on your heart. So as we get
1:05.2	into First Timothy 1, Paul is really, he's concerned about some of the false teaching that is out there and wanting to make
1:12.0	sure that Timothy has a sound doctrine. And so how do you as an elder see this connection for us
1:18.4	of like guarding our doctrine and shepherding the people that God has entrusted to us?
1:22.9	Yeah. I think there's certainly super intertwined. You can't really separate one from the other. Yeah. And for me, the way that I think they're certainly super intertwined. You can't really separate one from the other.
1:29.5	And for me, the way that I think about it is, I really ask the question, what is it we're
1:35.2	trying to shepherd our people toward?
1:37.6	We can shepherd our people towards the best ideas of man, quick fixes and all that
1:43.3	that entails, or we can shepherd our people
1:46.1	toward the person of Christ and the real life transformation that happens there.
1:51.5	So I don't see those things as separate.
