Today we're going to be looking at Psalm 110, answering the question, what does the mention of Malkisadec mean in Psalm 110?

I think a good place to start is just to read through the Psalm. It's only seven verses,

but I think it'll help establish a ground that we're going to be working on in the next 10 minutes or so.

So sit at my right hand, a Psalm of David. The Lord says to my Lord,

sit at my right hand until I make your enemies your footstool. The Lord sends forth from Zion your

mighty sceptre, rule in the midst of your enemies. Your people will offer themselves freely on the

day of your power, and your holy garments from the womb of the morning, the dew of your youth will be yours.

The Lord has sworn and will not change his mind.

You are a priest forever after the order of Malkisadec.

The Lord is at your right hand.

He will shatter kings on the day of his wrath, and he will execute judgment among the nations.

Fill in them with corpses, he will shatter chiefs over the wide earth, and he will drink from the brook by the way.

Therefore, he will lift up his head.

This psalm is a royal psalm, probably read out loud during a coronation ceremony.

David is the author, and David is believed to have written this as he celebrated the defeat of the city of Jabes.
