But today we are studying numbers 20 through 22 and we will be answering the question, why was Moses not allowed to enter the

promised land? It's a lot to cover, so we are going to jump right into this chapter.

This section in Numbers 20 starts out pretty sad. It starts out with Miriam, Moses's sister,

dying. And then the scene is set with the people of Israel out in the

wilderness of Zen, and they have no water. So this should cue us in to seeing a pattern that is

about to play out again. The people don't have water, and because of their lack in a place that is

uncomfortable, they draw the conclusion that God has forgotten to be gracious,

he has forgotten to provide for them, and that they think they know better than God.

So what do they do? They go straight to Moses and to Aaron, and they complain.
