Today, we're reading Genesis 46 through 50 and answering the questions, where do we get

the 12 tribes of Israel, who are they, and where do they come from?

And by way of reminder, we'll also talk about how to approach the Bible with a solid study

method and most importantly, how to read passages considering Christ.

So let's start with a good method for studying the Bible.

It's three simple steps, observation, interpretation, and application.

Observation asks, what does the text say?

It's all about slowing down, noticing detail, and paying attention to what's happening in the passage.

Whenever I observe the text, I answer the who, what, when, where, and why questions.

Who is speaking and being spoken to?

What's repeated or emphasized?

When is this taking place?

Are there any explicit reasons or, quote-unquote, wise stated in the text.
