Summary

This is a preview of a bonus episode! find the rest at our reasonably-priced patreon!https://www.patreon.com/killjamesbond ------ This week, further to our Solidarity Position of resolutely pretending America has never made a film, we're checking out a New Zealand production! Will our hearts be warmed by this tale of two misfits on the run, or will Taika Waititi's complete inability to not cast his friends somewhat undercut the movie's condemnation of the racialised abuse endemic to the foster care system? To help us get to the bottom of this question we've brought on friend of the show Ross Palethorpe, a youth worker and certified Kiwi! ------ THE MOVIES ARE ON STRIKE! SAG-AFTRA is on strike for a number of reasons, from pay for streaming residuals, to the rights to own your own appearance, to the right to not have AIs trained off your work. So if you've got a few spare pennies, why not chip in to help keep movies from becoming Shit Forever.https://entertainmentcommunity.org/https://actionnetwork.org/fundraising/the-snacklist-support-striking-workers IATSE workers are struggling at the moment as well, as they can't work during the current strike actions but aren't themselves on strike- the Motion Picture Television Fund is a 501(c)3 charity that provides a range of assistance. https://mptf.com Additionally, SAG and WGA members started another 501(c)3 charity called The Union Solidarity Coalition - https://tusctogether.com And if you're in the UK, the UCU could still do with some helphttps://www.ucu.org.uk/fightingfund ------ *WEB DESIGN ALERT*  Tom Allen is a friend of the show (and the designer behind our website). So my brother lived in New Zealand for a few years, and I went out to visit him a few times. So I got a little bit into New Zealand cinema. I just really like this film. I think it's funny. I think it's cute. It reminds me of the fantastic time I had out there when I was out there for a few months. And New Zealand is, well, Ross will be able to tell us more, but my brother described it as, like, Britain, except it works. Sure. Yep. Sure. Yep. For a given value of parts. Let's go with that. Absolutely. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. There's a lot of, like, asterisks on that. Like, I understand there's some like shit with, like, poisoning the wilderness and shit. But like, eh, it works. In general. In general. Yeah. The amount of poisoning we're doing doesn't even compare.
