It's a sensitive delicatial dragging brand new songs out of the sky, trading ideas,

trading ideas, accepting some, storing others in the maybe later bag, moving on and along with

hardly a plan.

During the Zet years, I never imagined a full-scale album project without the other guys,

and even less the idea of new writing partners.

But then, since 1981, I've enjoyed many amazing exciting musicians in the sharing, in the writing, in production and engineering.

Men and women who encouraged and enlightened, introducing me to crazy curves I could never have imagined.

For this podcast I'm going to be picking out some songs from here and there along the way, mixing constant shifts and sound and intention from across this long old time.

There's a story in all of them.

launch of the Digging Deep box set. We sat in front of an intimate audience of

only a few hundred people to talk about some

more songs from Robert's career and as you'll hear answer some questions set by

fans. This episode, episode 14 relates to a song from Robert's 1993 album Fate of Nations. This is one of my favorites.

This is a song connected to a slightly strange location, a town next to the edge of Joshua Tree in California and the home to all manner of

artists and Stargazers a place called 29 Palms. Oh, A fool in love, a crazy situation, a velvet

crazy situation, her velvet world. I love a big epic Sonic exploration as much to the next man but a really beautiful strong

chorus melody like that one that just does that melodic work so well.
