Summary

Let me set the scene: It's 1963, the movie 'From Russia With Love' has just released and pre-production on 'Goldfinger' is already taking place. The People are clamoring for international nonces of mystery, and the great film-mills of Europe are only too happy to hard shift from the declining 'sword and sandals' genre into something that will forever be known... as Eurospy. It's episode one of season 3, the much anticipated 'Season of Solidarity', where we take a look at movies not currently struck by the WGA or SAG-AFTRA and get to get back to our roots of talking about a bad spy movie from the 60s. On today's docket: OSS 117 is unleashed!  ------ THE MOVIES ARE ON STRIKE! SAG-AFTRA and the WGA are both on strike for a number of reasons, from pay for streaming residuals, to the rights to own your own appearance, to the right to not have AIs trained off your work. So if you've got a few spare pennies, why not chip in to help keep movies from becoming Shit Forever.https://entertainmentcommunity.org/https://actionnetwork.org/fundraising/the-snacklist-support-striking-workers And if you're in the UK, the UCU could still do with some helphttps://www.ucu.org.uk/fightingfund ------ Consider supporting us on our reasonably-priced patreon!https://www.patreon.com/killjamesbond ------ *WEB DESIGN ALERT*  Tom Allen is a friend of the show (and the designer behind our website). If you need web design help, reach out to him here:  https://www.tomallen.media/   Kill James Bond is hosted by Alice Caldwell-Kelly, Abigail Thorn, and Devon. Really pushing GCSE French recollections here.

The wheels are fucking falling off mine, I gotta say.

0:44.3

So welcome to the first episode of a new season of the podcast, one forced upon us by the cowards at the American motion picture industry,

0:56.1

who are currently being struck by both their writers and their actors.

1:02.3

Sucks to suck.

1:03.3

That's right.

1:04.3

And until they get back around the negotiating table and give those people everything they want,

1:09.6

we are engaging in the much-trailed season of solidarity.

So I got some guidance back from SAG,

1:20.9

and they said that they consider anything that is

1:25.9

or would have been produced under a SAG theatrical contract to

1:31.0

be struck work, which is essentially everything that was ever made in America. But also,

1:37.7

we aren't covered because we're film criticism rather than promotion. It is important to know,
