My name is Katie, and together we are walking through Revelation in our year-long study of the New Testament.

Today, we are studying Revelation 8.

introduced to the God who was and is and is to come. We've been introduced to Jesus, the Lamb of

God, the only one worthy to enact God's judgment upon the world. And we've been

introduced to a scroll, a scroll with the writing on the front and back that's sealed with seven

seals. With the opening of each seal, God's wrath begins to pour out on humanity. The seventh seal,

as we will read today, makes way for another wave of judgments to begin,

the trumpet judgments.

But before we get too discouraged by all of the calamity, let's remember last week's text.

Between the opening of the sixth and seventh seal came a reminder that God preserves a people for his own possession and he will

protect them to the very end. God's wrath upon evil makes way for Christ's kingdom to be established

and full, a place where God will dwell with his people forever. Remember, the book of Revelation

was written for the hope and perseverance of the saints.
