Welcome back to a year in the Bible with Daily Grace. My name is Kristen Schmucker and we are making our way through Matthew.

We are going through the New Testament one chapter a day and today we are in Matthew 20. We are so

passionate about helping you get into God's word every day and we are four weeks

into the New Testament. I'm so proud of you guys. We are doing it. As always I'm using the

free behold reading plan and the behold study guides from the Daily Grace Coe.

We'll link those for you in the show notes. Today we are starting with another parable. This time

Jesus is telling the parable of the Vineyard Workers. Most of us have probably

heard the phrase that the first will be last. So that is a helpful reference point as we dive in.

Here we see the master of a field hire workers. Some are hired at the start of the

day and some are hired later in the day. Some are even hired up until the final hours of the day,

and yet at the end of the day,

all are paid the same amount.

The workers that started early

are suddenly upset with the master even though he had paid

them exactly what he had promised to pay them. The parable serves as a warning for us when

we are upset when God blesses others with good things,

get how can we be upset at the generosity of God.

We say that we want God to be fair.
