0:26.0	My name is Kristen Schmucker and we are in Luke 14
0:30.0	as we work our way through the New Testament one chapter at a time and seek to behold Jesus.
0:36.0	I am loving this slower pace and how it helps us to see so many connections between the different passages that we study each day.

0:53.0	Yesterday we talked about the religious leaders attacking Jesus about the Sabbath
0:58.0	and we are beginning with another event that is very similar.
1:01.0	The Sabbath meal was the highlight of the week and we see Jesus
1:05.2	eating this meal with a leader of the Pharisees. But Jesus is drawn to people in need of his
1:10.8	grace and immediately he sees a man with a medical condition.
1:15.2	This condition is what we may refer to as edema and involves a buildup of fluid in the
1:20.0	body swelling and sometimes even organ failure.
1:24.0	What grabs my attention here though is that Jesus addresses the judgment in the hearts of
1:29.2	the religious leaders.
1:30.7	They never actually voiced their disdain for the healing that he was about to do.
1:35.0	When he asked them if he should heal the man, they would not even answer him.
1:40.0	They were speechless.
1:41.0	So Jesus healed the man and in doing so he exposed their legalism and the
