0:00.0	Welcome to a year in the Bible with daily grace. My name is Kristen and my name is Katie and we want to spend a few minutes a day with you walking through the New Testament one chapter at a time.
0:11.0	This year we will fix our gaze upon Christ so that we may know
0:14.9	him, not only with our minds but with our hearts. Together we will learn that
0:19.1	who Jesus is changes everything. Hello and welcome back to a year in the Bible with daily grace.
0:27.0	My name is Katie and today we are diving in to John 11.
0:31.0	In the Gospel so far and in John we read about Jesus' control over anything that may threaten us,
0:38.3	the fiercest of storms, the most consuming of diseases, and even death itself.
0:44.2	Chapter 11 centers around Jesus' authority over death.
0:48.8	Are you ready to dive in?
0:50.8	This chapter begins with Jesus getting word that a dear friend of his is sick.
0:55.0	Lazarus's sisters, Mary and Martha, send Jesus a message of bad news.
1:01.0	They reach out to the only one that they believe could help their
1:05.6	brother. John emphasizes Jesus' love for Lazarus and his sisters. Twice in
1:11.0	verses 3 and 6. Jesus clearly had deep affection for this family.
1:16.0	And so Jesus's response to this bad news is quite shocking.
1:21.0	Instead of rushing to the scene, Jesus delays his departure by two days.
1:26.9	This is confusing on first glance, right? And to get even more confusing,
1:31.3	Jesus says that this sickness will not end in death.
1:34.7	Yet we know that Lazarus will die.
1:37.8	And finally, to deepen the conundrum just a little more,
1:41.2	verses 5 and 6 tell us that it is because Jesus love Lazarus
1:45.5	Mary and Martha that he delayed. Why? Well Jesus was not on Mary and Martha's timeline.
