For this episode, we're going back to October 1989.

On October 6th, 1989, TV evangelist and talk show host, Jim Baker, was convicted of 24 counts

of fraud.

Jim and his wife, Tammy Fay Baker, hosted the PTL Club Show on their own satellite channel,

the PTL satellite network.

PtL stands for praise the Lord. This show was also known as the Jim and Tammy show.

In 1887 it came to life that Jim and another preacher, John Wesley Fletcher, had drugged and raped 21-year-old church secretary, Jessica Hahn.

Then, through his business, Jim paid

Han $279,000 so that she would keep quiet. Just before the information went public, Jim resigned

as the head PTF satellite network and Heritage USA. After that, he was investigated for fraud.
