I'm your guide, Derek Hayes.

I have a wonderful show lined up for you guys this evening.

But before I get started, you know what? Forget all that. Let'salachian Mountains. I grew up in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains.

I went to college near the Great Lakes, and I've lived in several big cities.

I currently reside among the towering cedar trees in the mountains of Southern California.

But there is one environment I have not spent much time in, and that is the southern swamps.

To me, the swamp conjures up an assortment of horrible thoughts.

Between the fauna, the insects, the parasites, and the black water, I feel like a man like myself doesn't stand much of a chance.

But it seems there are other dangers lurking into swamp lands,

and I'm not talking about cotton mouths and alligators.

If you spend enough time talking to folks around those parts,

you'll hear tales of the falk monster, the skunk ape, and the Cajun werewolf, de Luguru.

Perhaps it's one of these beasts

that our first color describes.

The following is Gavin's account

of a creature he witnessed in the

backwoods of Louisiana.
