Hello and welcome to colors of the dark.

I'm your co-host Rebecca McKendry and with me is Elric Kane, who's a little soggy tonight.

0:31.5

I'm a little soggy.

0:32.4

L.A. just keeps raining.

0:34.2

I know.

0:34.9

I keep like, okay, we're done now.

0:37.2

This is more rain than I think I've ever seen here in like 12 years of living here now. I think I'm done now.

0:43.7

Remember what happens in misery when it rains. She's not happy every time it rains. She's not happy.

I think there's also a movie called L.A. Rain Killer or something. There's some deep cut I saw a couple years ago. It wasn't that great, but it was something always somebody murders every time it rains in L.A. But I remember you talking about that. I cannot remember the name. I cannot recall the name. But I do love the way everything is like things aren't just greener. It's insane, especially how dry it gets where I live. I'll walk down the street and there are just all these flowers everywhere now where I'd never seen flowers.

1:13.7

It looks so weird.

1:14.7

No, even just driving, because we went down to Oceanside last weekend and just driving the stretch of the PCH down to Oceanside, nothing is ever green.

1:23.3

You're so used to seeing just the surrounding landscape as just these brown mountains and everything is so green with these giant poppies, the California poppies. It's weird. It doesn't feel like normal. I think we're headed to Annihilation movie. I think so, too. So if we can just get rid of the pesky humans, I think this earth might have a chance. So that would be good. I think I'm evolving into a plant fungus bear thing. Oh, good. So that's what I'm gunning for. We'll see how it plays out. But yeah, I think mutated bear is kind of my end goals. You got to work that. I'm working it. I'm working it. Speaking of mutant bear goals, we saw Scream 6. What the fuck? Worst Segway ever? Not even a segue. Ever. Not even.

2:04.7

They call that forced. They say that we have a, we're on a deadline today. We're like, we're

hidden marks. So we did. We went and saw Scream 6. Um, last Friday evening, we saw it with a packed

2:16.1

house at, um, the AMC 16 and Burbank, our regular haunt.

2:20.6

And God, it was so amazing to see it with such a packed crowd and people cheering and screaming and yelling and, you know, responding to the movie.

2:31.6

It's been a while since I've seen a movie that had that type of responsive audience in tow. Yeah, Smile, I think, had a great, like, fear and horror response. But, you know, what it is, it definitely feels generational. It feels, it reminded me how we all were kind of feeling when we saw Scream 1, like the, and Scream 2, the giddiness of seeing that in a theater, the scares. I didn't feel that way. Like watching it didn't mean I didn't like it. I liked it perfectly fine. I didn't feel what the crowd's feeling anymore for this particular franchise, just because it is Scream 6. You know, it's like at a certain point, you know, you can only feel so many, or five, is five? No, this is one, two, three, four, five, six.

3:09.2

Okay.

3:10.2

But it was entertaining.

3:11.7

And I think I did like the kind of cold open film studies lecturer being stalked, you know, from Ready or Not.

3:18.6

She's great.
