Hello and in this episode you're going to

welcome to this bonus episode of the storyteller naked villainy and in this

episode you're going to hear the first part of my interview with Defense Casey Brian McConocke.

I met him in Glasgow sometime after the trial concluded because journalists are not really allowed to

approach the legal representatives of the accused, but I had intimated to him that I'd be

keen to interview him if he was willing. And he actually reached out to me saying he wanted to take part,

and he'd been listening to the series. He acknowledged

it's a first in British history and wanted to be part of it. He did not have to do this

interview and he certainly didn't have to be as candid as he was.

And in the second part he goes into a lot more detail

including his thoughts on Kit's story about the bedsheets,

how defence teams in Scotland do not come up with stories of how to explain evidence

and his thoughts on kit giving evidence. And you can hear that longer interview by

joining the Patreon. But for now here's part one and I

begin by asking him about the beginning of his legal career.

I was a solicitor for many years in Perth for about 10 years and then I went to the bar in

1994 and I joined Crown Office in 2002 so I then prosecuted for about seven years between 2002 and 2009

during which time I became, they keep renaming it, but it's something like Principal Crown Council

used to be called the home depute back in the old days where you are pretty much

responsible for all the high court crime throughout Scotland.

So you're kind of third in line below the Lord Advocate in the Solgen

but much more hands-on than each of them or either of them.
