Summary

Piketon is a small town in Southern Ohio, 90 miles east of Cincinnati with a population of just over 2000 people. It’s a salt-of-the-earth type of place, nestled in the heart of Appalachia, where many families can trace their lineage back generations. Everyone knows everyone, no one is a stranger, and when someone is in need all they have to do is turn to their neighbor. Bad things happen everywhere, even in small, tight-knit towns, but in April of 2016 something happened that no one had ever seen before, and it shook them to their core. Eight members of one family, in four separate locations, all murdered execution-style at the same time; it was a crime that most people only experience through movies, but the members of this quiet, hardworking town would soon find themselves thrust into the national spotlight, unwillingly living through a real life murder mystery and mourning a family who had been a fixture in the community.

Hello everybody welcome back to crime weekly I'm Stephanie Harlow and I am Derek Levasseer so today we're diving into part two of the Pycton Massacre,

0:24.4

where eight people were murdered

0:26.9

at four different locations in Pike County, Ohio in 2016. And we went over kind of all the background in part one of this

0:36.7

so if you have not seen or listened to part one you probably should do that or a

0:40.4

lot of this will not make sense. But unless Derek has anything to say, any

0:45.4

announcements to make, anything he wants to chat about, we should dive right in.

0:49.8

Nope. Only thing that I'll say is about this episode.

0:54.0

A lot of you in the comments were saying, hey, it would be great if we had a diagram.

0:57.8

Diagram's going up on the screen right now.

1:00.0

Shannon's going to insert it right here.

1:01.7

You can screenshot that, do what you will with it.

1:03.7

We did not create that diagram as Stephanie filled me and she actually sent it to me after the

1:07.6

episode. So we'll have that in right now and it may come up again throughout the episode.

1:12.0

But there you go, now you have exactly what I'm looking at on my phone as we're going through this episode.

1:16.1

Yeah so after part one Derek was like oh this is really confusing there's so many people involved, so many people connected.

1:22.5

And I did send him a picture of the diagram

1:25.0

to show all the people who are involved in this case.

1:29.4

And he was like, oh, this is great.

1:30.7

And for some reason, he thought I made that myself as if I'm some

1:34.0

talented like tech person which I definitely did not make that myself but enough

1:37.8

people have been confused about all the moving parts and all the moving people in

1:41.5

this case that that somebody took the initiative to make that
