We explore 2 Nephi 4, or Nephi’s psalm. We look at the context of the beautiful psalm, and what caused Nephi to feel such a heartfelt, deep-seated stirring. John Tanner reads two of his own poetical renditions of the psalm. We explore what it teaches us about being born again and the pathway go holiness and godliness and how those teachings can apply to us at whatever level of godliness or holiness we are in. We look at how this all ties to Christ and His atoning sacrifice, and the need to trust in Christ’s transformative power and its ability to truly change us.

0:36.7	Well, let me tell our audience just a little bit about, is it right if I call you, John, here on there? Absolutely.

0:44.0	I'll tell the audience a little bit about you, and then we'll ask you to tell us more about yourself.
0:44.4	So John began teaching in Florida State, but eventually came here to BYU.
0:53.5	He's an expert in Milton, has written about the articles and books about Milton. He taught here at BYU. He was also an associate academic vice president here. And then the academic vice president and has also served as a mission leader or mission president and as the president of
1:13.6	BYU, where I used to teach as well. We didn't overlap, but we overlapped here in Provo. I think
1:19.4	you were the probably the associate academic or I think maybe academic vice president when I first
1:25.5	came.
1:33.4	But anyway, and he's been chairman of all sorts of other things and has a wonderful family.
1:35.2	So that's plenty of stuff.
1:36.0	But what else should we know?

1:46.8	Well, besides that, I love teaching and I love my students when I teach. And so all the administrative things that I've done are great, but they, in some ways, they've taken me out of the classroom,
1:53.3	which is my first love. I'm also one of 13 children. So I was from a very big family in

2:04.7	and Latter-day St. Family. So where in Southern California? In South Pasadena. Oh, okay.
