| 1:14.0 | Of course, what do you want to tell us about your background? |
| 1:18.0 | While I was born and raised in metropolitan, New York, I was raised by a single mother primarily until high school. |
| 1:27.0 | I grew up in a neighborhood that was pretty mixed. It was a heavily immigrant neighborhood. |
| 1:33.0 | And I guess you could say it was lower income. |
| 1:37.0 | And there are many great things about that, but I also remember crime being introduced into my life at a pretty early age. |
| 1:45.0 | And going through a period of time of several years, actually, where I was a little bit fearful. |
| 1:52.0 | And after I was a little older, my mom explained to me that right around that time she had actually been stalked by a violent felon in our neighborhood who would follow us in his car when we would, you know, when she walked me to school and everything. |
| 2:06.0 | And so I do remember developing some just hyper vigilance around who was around me and if we were safe. |
| 2:15.0 | And so I think in that sense, I didn't have like a very sheltered existence, but it was rich in many ways, good extended family, very happy in some ways, but also kind of lost my innocence when it came to crime and safety. |
| 2:31.0 | Pretty young. Did you have fear growing up because of that? |
| 2:36.0 | Absolutely. I did. I was very wary of strange men for a period of time when I was little. |
