Summary

Zoe Dronfield was almost murdered by her stalker. **WARNING: The following episode of Strictly Stalking contains graphic descriptions of domestic violence and suicide. Listener discretion is advised.** After she ended their relationship, her ex started calling hundreds of times a day, threatening suicide, and showing up at her house. Zoe repeatedly reported her stalker and at one point, two male officers told her she should find herself a nice boyfriend. When Zoe didn't give in to his attempts at reconciliation, her stalker attacked her with a meat cleaver and beat her until she was unrecognizable and almost dead. After the story about Zoe's ordeal was published in the newspapers she learned that her stalker victimized thirteen other women including a police officer. She believes she would have been spared the grueling eight-hour attack if police had taken her seriously and if she had known about his past victims. Zoe and anti-stalking allies have campaigned for the creation of a stalker database to allow police forces to link a stalker's previous offenses and flag them as dangerous.
