It's Katie here, one of your co-hosts, and together we are reading through the New Testament in a year, one chapter a day.

Are you ready? Today we are studying Acts 13.

In Acts 11, we read about the hope of Jesus spreading

wildly into a city called Antioch, so wildly that Barnabas had to go to find Saul so that he could

help them teach this church there. The chapter begins here in Antioch, where Saul and Barnabas stayed for

about a year. Chapter 13 begins with the

commission of the Holy Spirit for Paul and Barnabas to actually leave Antioch. This was an act of

trust for the Antioch Church. These men who had stayed with them helped them establish the church

there and now are being called to leave. We are observing more than just

Saul's and Barnabas's faith here. We are observing the faith of the church in Antioch to let go of

their beloved brothers in Christ. And so the trio set off. Wait, trio? Yes, scripture tells us that

John Mark, the author of the Gospel of Mark,

and the son of the woman Mary in yesterday's chapter, who was hosting praying Christians

in her home, this John Mark joined Saul and Barnabas on their journey. As we studied verses 4 through
