Summary
In this psalm, we get to see the overarching theme that God is abundantly powerful in all creation and He’s abundantly intentional in His care for His people. Lauren Atkinson leaves us with the encouragement that we are so loved by God in Christ and we can cling to that truth no matter what we face going into the holiday season.

| 0:00.0 | All right now, if we're honest, reading the Bible consistently can be a challenge, but it's never |
| 0:05.4 | too late to start, and we're in this together. This is the Join the Journey podcast. |
| 0:12.7 | Thanks for joining. My name is Lauren Atkinson on the Join the Staff team, and it is Thanksgiving |
| 0:18.9 | week. I hope you guys are getting ready to spend time with |
| 0:22.6 | family, getting all the prep in for Thanksgiving meals and getting ready to watch tons of |
| 0:28.1 | football. Whether you're hosting at your home or traveling to be with family, the importance of |
| 0:33.5 | this week can easily get lost in all of the logistics to make it happen. And in a holiday |
| 0:39.2 | where the goal is to emphasize thankfulness, it can be easy to focus on productivity or even |
| 0:46.3 | image. Did we check off every Thanksgiving tradition with the perfect meal, decorations, |
| 0:51.8 | turkey trot and game set list? or are our houses ready to be immediately |
| 0:56.4 | flipped for Christmas right after? Or maybe this week just highlights that there's an empty |
| 1:01.7 | seat at the dinner table that you wish was still filled by someone in your life. Thanksgiving |
| 1:06.9 | week can bring up a lot of things for all of us other than just being thankful. |
| 1:12.3 | And today we're in Psalm 147, which is a psalm that speaks to that, and it propels us to |
| 1:18.1 | thankfulness despite what our circumstances look like. It's a Psalm of praise, not simply because |
| 1:24.1 | of good things going on in life or material things we're grateful for, like |
| 1:27.9 | family or the ability to travel, good food, and all the things that come with Thanksgiving. |
| 1:33.3 | But those are good things that change. |
| 1:36.3 | They're not always constant. |
| 1:37.6 | Every year can look different. |
| 1:39.1 | This psalm shows us that the ultimate cause for Thanksgiving, not just the holiday, but giving thanks, is the one |
| 1:46.4 | who does not change. He is always good. He's always faithful and present, intentional, and loving. |
