Hello, welcome back to a year in the Bible with Daily Grace.

My name is Katie, and I get the joy of walking with you through Second Corinthians in our

year-long study of the New Testament. Today we are studying 2nd

Corinthians 12th. As always you can follow along with the behold studies in the

Today Paul continues to refute false apostles who claimed greater authority than him.

In Chapter 11, Paul refutes these false the teachers in an interesting way. He almost parodies them. They boast, and so

Paul boast all the more. But Paul boast in his weakness, in his experiences of suffering for the sake of the gospel.

Paul boasts that he has lived a life of Christ's likeness.

Paul will boast again in chapter 12, following the precedent of these super-apostals, as he sarcastically calls

them.

He will proclaim that he does have reason to legitimately boast, but he again will return

to magnify his weakness so that Christ can be magnified all the more.

As Paul defends his ministry, we must remember that he is not defending his authority

for his own gain. Paul is defending his authority for his own gain.

Paul is defending his authority to defend the true gospel,

to defend Christ.

Paul's desire is to protect the Corinthians
