Summary

As David is remembering God's salvation for His people, Israel, he is also praising God as the One whose power and glory are over all authorities. Lauren Atkinson teaches us that we can never overstate the truth of God's kept promises. Take time today to reflect on your own salvation and remind yourself to look to Jesus " the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God."

Additional Scripture referenced in today's episode:
Ephesians 2:1, "And you were dead in the trespasses and sins"
Ephesians 2:8, "For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast."
Hebrews 12:2, " Looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God."

My name is Lauren, and I'm on the Join the Journey staff team,

0:16.7

and today we are in Psalm 108 talking about the glory of God over all the earth.

0:22.2

Now, as we are looking at Psalm 108, we are going to see how Israel being on the Lord's side

0:27.3

is the only way that they could win any battles. So does anyone remember in PE class when you

0:32.9

went to play dodge ball or capture the flag? And instead of the PE coach designating the teams, they decide

0:38.8

it's going to be draft style. You know, when there's two captains and they each take turns

0:43.0

and picking who they want on their teams, hoping they're putting together a winning group of

0:47.2

fifth graders. I've always been competitive, so whenever I was in the captain and I'm just

0:52.2

sitting there waiting to hear my name called and I'm

0:54.3

sizing up all these other fifth graders hoping I get put on the team with the fastest and the strongest.

1:00.4

Or maybe, honestly, the thought of this is bringing back stressful memories for you of hoping

1:04.7

you're not the last pick. Either way, if you have any ounce of competition in your bones, you are

1:09.9

hoping that you end up on the team that will give you your best ounce of competition in your bones, you are hoping that you end up

1:11.2

on the team that will give you your best shot of winning. And in Psalm 108, David is praising

1:16.8

God as the only one who can guarantee victory because his power and his glory is far above

1:22.7

all others. And what's interesting to note when we read this Psalmsalm is that Psalm 108 is actually a compilation of
