Today, we're reading Psalm 44 answering the question, does God sleep?

Or said differently, when God seems to be inactive, what might be the reason?

Have you ever felt like life is just one bad thing after another?

The other week, that is exactly how I felt. I was driving to a dentist appointment, running late,

and as I was driving to the dentist, a warning light came on the dashboard of my car.

And this light said in red, all capital letters,

break. And I instantly thought, oh, is my emergency brake on? That's odd. I hardly ever use the emergency brake. And I check, and sure enough, the emergency brake was not on, which left me very

concerned. So I pull over, look at the manual, figure out that this brake

warning light either meant that the brakes on my car were having a major malfunction or that I

need more brake fluid. And so after a quick Google search, I determined that this isn't the

kind of warning light you want to ignore. So I pull into the dentist and decide, hey, I'll deal with

But I'm so late to the dentist that I can't be seen, and I had to pay a $40 fee for missing my

appointment. So I go back out to my potentially broken car, and as I'm backing out, I kid you not,

I hit a pillar in the parking lot, which is so embarrassing. Luckily, not too hard.

It was just a tiny scratch, but I'm frustrated.

I've got this brake light situation.

I had to pay this fee, and now I have literally hit a stationary pillar in a parking garage.

So I drive to AutoZone to go pick up some brake fluid, hoping this will fix the problem, and then I go to the repair shop,
