Joey, it's good to have you here.

A fun fact is that I live with your family.

You do.

So this is somewhat maybe the closest we could get to having with your father in the studio.

But your dad is a great man.

He is.

He's just far away. Joey, for those who don't know you, would you share a little bit about what God's done in your life and what you're up to today?

Totally. So I grew up in Alabama. Really, if you are familiar with the South and that culture, very legalistic. We do things because they're right. It's not out of obedience. It's really, are you going to church and not much of a we'll call it relationship driven

relationship with the church it's hey we do this because it's right and that's a bummer because

and battled performance-based acceptance long battle with pornography a lot of just like

really hard things that I think separate me from

the Lord, not think I know they do, but for years I didn't talk to anybody about it, which is

just tough because that's not God's design for the church. It's meant to encourage us, uplift us,

sharpen us, and help us walk in repentance.

And so I'd say until I was probably 21, I lived in a really weird, false reality, if you will, of

this is what it's supposed to look like to follow Jesus, but I wasn't actually following him

because I didn't fully know him. And then come to a place where I'm like, oh, this is what a relationship is supposed to look like.
