The death of Sherry's mom, Juliane Serozki, came as a shock to us.

We hadn't heard from her in a while, and she was on our minds.

And one night, I was doing some research at home.

I can't even remember what I was looking up at the time,

but that's when I saw it, an obituary.

It read,

it is with heavy hearts that we announced the passing of Juliane Serozki on July 13th, 2018.

It was surprising and sad at the same time.

In February of that year, Victoria and I first were about to meet Juliane.

We were just starting to work on this story.

She welcomed us into her home, and she helped us learn more about her daughter.

She was the first person we spoke to about Sherry.

And she was also the first person we spoke to about Sherry's husband, Greg Fertok.

Yeah, I've been asked by reporters before, you know, about Greg.

And I don't even know if I should have this recorded,

but I'm kind of careful with what I say, because I don't know,

he could come out here someday and kick the door in, and, you know,

because he does not like me.
