| 0:51.0 | And while that might seem kind of depressing, these Psalms actually remind us to set our hearts on God and his faithful character. |
| 0:59.0 | Though the Psalmists base hardship for various reasons, each one declares they have not been abandoned. |

| 1:09.0 | We will trace this theme as we work through each Psalm today. |
| 1:14.0 | We begin with Psalm 5. |
| 1:16.0 | This individual lament written by David isn't attributed to any specific event in his life. |
| 1:22.0 | But as we've studied over the past few days, David has faced both friend and foe, both righteous and wicked. |
| 1:30.0 | This Psalm compares the posture of the righteous heart and the wicked heart before the Lord. |
| 1:36.0 | The first three verses begin with David's petition for the Lord to listen to him. |
| 1:42.0 | He uses words like sighing, cry, and plead as he brings his case before God. |
| 1:49.0 | In verses 4-6, he praises the Lord for his justice. |
| 1:54.0 | God doesn't delight in wickedness. He hates evil and he abhors the violent and treacherous. |
| 2:01.0 | We do want to make the distinction that these are people who blatantly reject the Lord. |
