Together, we will explore God's sovereign plan as the events of Scripture unfold and point to Jesus.

Hey, you're in the Bible friends. Tiffany here. Welcome back to the podcast. We are making our way through the Gospels as we study the life and ministry of our Savior.

Today, we will look at three major events, the healing of a

paralytic man, the calling of Levi or Matthew as we know him, and the question concerning fasting.

In each case, we will see that Jesus has authority in heaven and on earth to provide forgiveness and initiate the new covenant

through his sacrifice on the cross. He will continue to show with his life and ministry that he is the

Messiah our hearts have always needed. Our chapters today come from Matthew, Mark, and Luke,

and each one covers all three events.

But what is so great about studying all three is that each one shares various aspects of what occurs,

giving us a well-rounded view of the narrative.

And we shouldn't be surprised that Luke shares the most details.

We can always trust Luke for some extra information.

We begin with the healing of the paralytic man.

Jesus had returned from Jerusalem to the region of Galilee and was teaching in a house in Copernium.

The house was full, so the men carrying the man on the stretcher took

him up to the roof, removed tiles, and then lowered him into the room. But while the paralytic man,

his friends, and even those in the crowded room likely expected the miracle of his physical healing,

instead Jesus said, friend, your sins are forgiven.
