Our journey through the Gospels continues in Matthew and Luke today.

Several events are recorded in these chapters.

We're going to focus on the Centurion's faith,

John the Baptist's question,

and the woman who washed Jesus feet with her tears.

Across each narrative we will encounter the bold faith of each of these people and learn that

while Jesus came first for the Jew, he also came for the Gentiles.

Let's get started with the account of the Centurians faith found in both Matthew and Luke. In order to truly appreciate this

narrative we need some cultural context. During the first century the Roman

Empire ruled the known world and the Jewish people

despised them. This is why it's almost shocking to read that the Jewish community

in Capurnium respected this centurion and appreciated his love for

their nation. They believed he was worthy of the healing Jesus could provide for his

sick servant.

But we also don't want to miss what we learn

about the character of this man.
