Welcome back to our year in the Bible podcast.

I love spending each day with you and I hope our time in Leviticus has been informative

and helpful as we see just how important this book is to help us know our holy God and

to point our hearts toward Christ.

Today marks the shift in Leviticus as we move on from the establishment of the sacrificial

system and the priesthood and focus our attention on how the Israelites would function from

day to day in light of God's regulations concerning holiness and cleanliness.

But before we dive into that in chapters 11 and 12, we first come to the sobering account

of Nadab and Abihu in chapter 10.

We read that Nadab and Abihu presented unauthorized fire before the Lord.

We can also assume they were drunk based on God's mandate against drinking among the

priests later in this chapter.

Their disobedient and irreverent behavior led to their death.

When we read this account, it might sound harsh, but we can't forget how many times God

has told these men through Moses that their job was one of holiness, obedience and reverence
