Today, our journey through Jeremiah continues as we take a look at chapters 4-6.

These three chapters are part of a section that we started yesterday from chapters 2-6.

In them, Jeremiah shares five messages concerning Judas spiritual adultery and the consequences they will face.

This theme continues today as Jeremiah uses vivid language to describe Judas rebellion and the coming invader from the North.

These chapters are sobering as we see God's coming judgment.

But he never leaves us without hope.

As chapter 4 begins, the first four verses are hopeful as Jeremiah details the Lord's call for Israel to return,

repent and not waver in their obedience to him.

Even the nations of the earth will be blessed by the Lord if they do the same.

The people are called to circumcise their hearts.

Once again, foreshadowing the new covenant, God will make with His people by changing their hearts.

But if they don't return, they will face judgment.

These verses have both a partial and future fulfillment.

We know that Judah doesn't seek the Lord and chooses disobedience and idle worship.
