Hey, you're in the Bible family. Tiffany here, and today is an exciting day as we dive into the book of Ezekiel.

Now, I am going to be honest and tell you, while this book is exciting and there is much to learn,

there are also going to be some hard things for us to understand.

Ezekiel is filled with a lot of imagery and symbolic language that has been debated for thousands of years.

And I am not going to be the one to solve those debates. But we will talk about them and look at the applications that apply to our walk

with the Lord. And as we approach this book, we will do so with a willingness to accept the mystery

great God who holds the universe in his hands. So let's get started with a little context

to help our understanding of this book. The author of the book is Ezekiel. He was from a priestly family and he was taken into captivity by Babylon

during the second siege of Jerusalem in 597 BC. It's likely that Ezekiel heard Jeremiah prophesy in Jerusalem

before he was taken into captivity. Ezekiel was called to prophesy to the

exiles in Babylon five years after his captivity began. Across the 48 chapters of this book,

Ezekiel has a series of visions, and God calls him to act in ways that are seemingly odd,

but they are actually meant to help the people better understand God's message.

Unlike Jeremiah, which wasn't in any real chronological order, Ezekiel has an orderly structure.

Chapters 1 through 3 share his vision of the Lord's glory and call from the Lord.
