0:06.2	dock worker to become the head of the notorious murder incorporated, the Mafia's
0:11.6	killing agency. He'd been hand picked by none other than Lucky Luciano, the god
0:18.0	father of the modern Mafia himself. So when Luciano was sentenced to 30 years
0:23.8	imprisoned by prosecutor Thomas Dewey, and Estasia's first impulse was to kill
0:29.1	Dewey in retaliation, but that was against the rules. So if Thomas Dewey had been
0:36.2	assassinated, it's almost guaranteed that the top-level mobsters in New York

0:56.0	very bad career move for the mob. Next on the list for Dewey's war on organized
1:02.4	crime was Anastasia's trusted partner at murdering his friend Louis Leppke
1:07.9	Buchalter, but when the commission is faced with continued pressure from
1:12.3	authorities, anyone is expendable. This is Mafia.
1:20.0	In November 1936, with a murder charge leveled against him, Buchalter was on the run.
1:31.0	Anastasia, fearing that his friend and partner could face a similar outcome to
1:36.1	Luciano, if not worse, called on the murdering corporate network to keep Leppke in hiding.
1:42.9	The word gets out, gets to Leppke. Your next on Dewey's hit list. Now he already
1:48.6	seen Chaltsky kill. He's seen Luciano go to jail and he's in hiding.
1:54.6	Bernard Whalen is the author of undisclosed files of the police. They don't know
1:59.8	have any idea where he is. The government. Some say he's overseas. He's went to
2:05.2	Jerusalem. Turns out he's in Brooklyn the whole time.
