October is in its death throes.

The celebration of Halloween is upon us. And as promised, tonight we're going to do something a little unique.

I've asked that you, the listeners, submit your favorite campfire story for this special episode, and you did not disappoint.

But before we launch into those submissions,

I'd like to recite the original ghost story

from my favorite author, Edgar Allan Poe.

I'm going to... Once, upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered weak and weary over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore.

While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping, as if someone gently rapping,

rapping at my chamber door.

Tis some visitor, I muttered, tapping on my chamber door.

Only this, nothing more.

"'Ah, distinctly I remember, it was in the bleak December,

"'and each separate dying ember ride its ghost upon the floor.

"'Eagerly I'd wished tomorrow,

"'and vainly I'd sought to borrow from my book surcease of sorrow,

sorrow for the lost Lenore, for the rare and radiant maiden whom the angels named Lenore.
