For this week's episode, we're going back to June 1983.

On June 2nd, 1983, Air Canada Flight 797 was flying from Dallas, Texas to Montreal, Quebec,

with a stopover in Toronto, Ontario.

46 people, 41 passengers, and 5 crew members were on board.

As they got closed to Cincinnati, Ohio, a fire broke out in one of the bathrooms.

The pilots were forced to land at the Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky International Airport.

23 people were killed in the fire.

The cause of the fire was never

officially determined, but it was thought it was electrical fire. Jim Gordon was a popular

session drummer in the 1960s and 70s. He played on albums with bands like The Birds,

The Carpenters, Crosby Stills and Nash, Alice Cooper, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, John Lennon, B.B. King, and Tom Waits, just to name a few.

He also played on one of the greatest albums of all time, Pet Sounds by Beach Boys.

Jim was also the drummer Frere Clapton's blues band, Derek and the Domino's.

Jim Gordon had schizophrenia, but he had been misdiagnosed.
