For this episode, we're going to look at an infamous Canadian case that started in January

1969.

On January 2nd, 1969, Australian Media Mogul, Rupert Murdoch purchased the largest selling British

newspaper, News of the World.

On January 7th, the American Congress approved for the president's salary to be

doubled from $100,000 to $200,000 a year. Richard Nixon was president at the time, and

accounting for inflation, he made $1.3 million in the first year. The current presidential salary

is $400,000. On January 28, 1969, in the NFL draft, running back O.J. Simpson

was picked first overall by the Buffalo Bills. Simpson had an amazing career, including being

the first player to rush over 2,000 yards in a single season. Simpson eventually became one of the

most famous athletes in the world.

After football, he started a successful acting career. That something happened in June 1994

that made him one of the most infamous people in history. In fact, what he did probably made

him so infamous that were positive when we said O.J. Simpson, you immediately thought of what he probably

did in its aftermath instead of everything else he accomplished in his life. On January 31st, 1969,

the number one song was Crimson and Clover by Tommy James and the Chondells. The number one movie
