I'm Amber Hunt, a journalist and author, and in each episode of this show, I'll examine a case that's

maybe less known today, but was huge when it happened. This is crimes of the centuries.

There had been a time when Porter Rogers lived with his neighbors considered an

enviable picture-perfect life. Porter had grown up a poor child with enough smarts and drive to become a doctor.

And he was a generous one at that. When patients couldn't put their bills, Porter figured out a way

to help them anyway, sometimes waving their fees altogether. His kindness paid off in the long run,

earning him patients whose loyalty ultimately made him a millionaire. With that money, Porter bought

a hospital, named it after himself. With his whipsmart wife, Furn, he also had two children,

son Porter Jr. and daughter Anne, and the Rogers family was as close to royalty as you could get
