Welcome to Finding Our Way. We are nearing the end of the first season. We have a few more

0:19.5

amazing episodes left, but we wanted to just dip in here and do a Q&A episode. Answer

0:26.9

some of the questions that we received from you all via our Instagram, via our website, our email,

0:33.2

and spend some time with some of the things that are coming up for you all this season. And joining

0:38.8

me today is my brother, Eddie Hempill. Hi, Eddie. What up, what up? And you're going to be asking

0:47.4

the questions and maybe answering some of the questions too. So how are you doing today and what

0:53.1

you got? I'm doing, I'm doing pretty good today. It's a little hot in my house. But other than that,

1:00.2

I'm glad to be here. How are you feeling about this season so far? I think this season has done

1:06.7

everything we wanted it to do. I'm very, very excited about how it has turned out. And where I see

1:13.9

it going in the next couple episodes, it really, to me, feels like a deepening of what we've been

1:18.8

trying to do. So season two is kind of lit, I would say. I agree. And shout out to Devon Delania,

1:25.9

who's a producer on the show, who compiled all these questions from you all. I'm excited to

1:30.1

dig in and see what you've all been thinking about since we've been deep into season two.

1:34.8

So our first question today is from CK Hamilton and CK just wants to know a little bit more about

1:41.4

your own training and your lineage in semantics. Let's see where to begin that story. I think most

1:48.2

people, maybe when they ask that question, are talking about kind of my formal study. And

1:54.8

my formal study comes through my training with generative semantics. I started studying there in

2:01.6

2011 and stopped training there in 2019, I believe. And was a teacher there. And I think probably

2:14.0

the last four years of my time there, something like that. I also was a teacher with black

2:19.7

organizing for leadership and dignity. Bold. I started teaching with bold in 2015. The first

2:25.4

course I taught was actually in Ferguson. And I trained there also with other teachers there at

2:33.0

bold and studied there and taught there as well, kind of concurrently with generative semantics.
