Summary

The death of Malcolm III and his queen, Margaret of Wessex, sent Scotland back into the chaos of dynastic conflict. Malcolm's brother, Donaldbain, stole the throne in 1093 but there were many sons of Malcolm ready to challenge him and first up was Duncan II. In Duncan's favour, he was a well-trained knight, brought up at the Norman court and backed by the King of England, William Rufus. On the downside, he was a well-trained Norman knight, brought up at the Norman court and backed by the King of England. Would the Scots accept this Anglo-Norman figure, or would Duncan be sent packing? Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information. Learn more about your ad choices. when I arrived today there's too many

0:54.7

Duncan's and Donald's and here we are at a Duncan again the second in mere 22 episode

1:01.9

they're all Duncan in my head. It's confusing I suppose because

1:06.0

yeah we've had three Donald's and then the original Duncan fitted into the

1:11.3

backgroundy stuff of the previous episode as well.

1:13.4

Ah, okay, maybe that's...

1:15.1

And then obviously the one fact that you took from the episode was the incorrect name

1:20.1

you said at the end.

1:21.1

Duncan the third.

1:22.3

Not to be confused with Donald third, or indeed Duncan the third. Not to be confused with Donald the third or indeed Duncan the second

1:25.0

from today. Exactly so maybe it would be more helpful if last time we'd referred to

1:28.9

Donald the third exclusively as Donald Bain. Yeah.

1:33.0

So a bit of backgroundy stuff and some more of those names, hopefully we'll see if we can get them a little bit more clearly fixed in your head at this point.
